CBGB's is the bar you're probably thinking of; I miss Jay's International Market on S. Grand. And the preponderance of coffee shops with pool tables. and my Bosnian neighbors.
Oh, CBGB's was on the same street as Jay's...it also had a shuffleboard game.
And then there was Soulard and BB's Blues Jazz and Soup, and the best fucking diners in the world...I think I've lost about 20 pounds since being away, but my soul has suffered from the lack of butter.
oh, and the cheap beer. $4.00 pitchers of Old Style will always have a special place in my heart. (and my ass will always remember them, too).

Funny, I almost never miss it. Except for Soulard Market. And this bar we used to go that had this cool shuffle-board type game. And the back porch.
Yeah, you live in Brooklyn.
I live in San Diego.

oooh, and the obvious: i miss the rent.
Yeah, the rent was pretty sweet. For us it was free. And I miss the darkroom in the basement.
The bar wasn't called CBGB's, I don't think. It was a tiny dive in some suburb.
Jay's International Market was truly kickass. They had Pozdravka brand chicken stock from Croatia.
I miss being chauffeured everywhere.
